Members from the Foundation’s Education & Sport Programme and our Premier League Girls sessions travelled to Belgium with Premier League Communities for the “Football Remembers” U18 Girls Tournament in Ypres.

The girls were taken on a tour of the memorial museum, before visiting the cemetery and trenches that remain from World War 1.

Joined by participants from other Premier League Clubs including Burnley, Manchester United and Watford, the girls also laid wreaths to show their respect for the soldiers.

They then took part in the group stages of the tournament, battling against Watford, Burnley and Manchester City eventually bowing out at the end of the group stages.

Delivered in partnership with The Football Association, Premier League Girls Football aims to provide opportunities for females aged 11 and over to take part in the sport in a local community setting.

The programme encourages participants who want to progress in the game, creating pathways with local community clubs to provide long term participation opportunities, whilst many clubs also deliver elements of the female talent pathway.
