The Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development provides the opportunity to gain an industry-recognised qualification, whilst studying at a Community Club Organisation and completing a comprehensive portfolio of work-based learning.

This course also allows you to study for a third year to achieve a full Bachelor level qualification.

WHAT TO EXPECT

When studying this degree, you can expect a comprehensive and engaging programme that equips you with the skills and knowledge to excel in the football industry. The course covers vital aspects of children’s and youth coaching, football development, social inclusion, and sports management, preparing you for a wide range of career paths.

You’ll also have the opportunity to achieve the FA Level 1 and 2 Awards in Coaching Football, enhancing your credentials and practical expertise.

Learn, Lead & Coach

Alongside the academic elements of the course, students will have the unique opportunity to gain practical experience through up to 140 hours of placement activity within the community.

Working closely with Cardiff City FC Community Foundation and Cardiff City FC Academy staff, students will develop essential skills in real-world environments, delivering coaching sessions and engaging with diverse groups.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 48 UCAS points
  • A Level: DD to include at least one A Level in Science, Mathematics, Physical Education or Psychology but to exclude General Studies.
  • Welsh BACC: Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales Grade D and D at A Level to include at least one Science, Mathematics, Physical Education or Psychology subject but to exclude General Studies.
  • BTEC: TEC Diploma Merit Pass or BTEC Extended Diploma Merit Pass Pass in a relevant subject.
  • Three A*-C grades at GCSE, including English and Maths

Costs: The course costs students £9,250 per academic year; however, this cost is covered by student finance.
