'Do One Thing' on World Mental Health Day

09 October 2021

Prioritising our mental health has never been more important.

Whilst more people are aware of mental health and how important it is, we need to demand a different approach to mental health to ensure we support our teammates and ourselves.

Mind’s latest research suggests that more than half of adults (60% of those over the age of 25) and three-quarters of young people (74% of those aged 13-24) said their mental health worsened during the period of lockdown from early April to mid-May.

That’s why we’re supporting Mind’s World Mental Health Day campaign ‘Do One Thing’ to look after your own and your teammates’ mental health.

Foundation Director, Gavin Hawkey surprised a member of the team, Ross, with the new Cardiff City FC shirt to recognise the passion and dedication he has shown to supporting and mentoring young people at Cardiff West Community High School through our Premier League Inspires project.

Gavin said: “Ross has made an extraordinary contribution to the lives of young people over the last 12 months – so we wanted to let him know that his efforts are recognised and appreciated.

“I’d encourage everyone to get involved and ‘do one thing’ - one small action could make a huge difference to those around you.

Look after your teammates this World Mental Health Day and ‘Do One Thing’ to support your own and your teammates’ mental health.
