Cardiff City FC Foundation are pleased to announce that trustee Leighton Andrews has been appointed as our Chair of Trustees.

Leighton has been a trustee with the Foundation since September 2016 and will use his expertise in public services, education and innovation to influence the charity’s pioneering and beneficial projects.

Leighton is Professor of Practice in Public Service Leadership and Innovation at Cardiff Business School and was a former Minister for Education and Skills as well as Minister for Public Services in Welsh Labour Governments from 2009-2016. His appointment has been approved by the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments. The appointment is unpaid.

Speaking as the new Chair of the Board, Leighton said: "The Cardiff City FC Foundation has a direct impact on people’s lives and I am delighted to take over as Chair. I look forward to working alongside Cardiff City FC and our talented Foundation team to improve the lives of children, young people and families in South Wales. I hope we can make people proud of the contribution our football club makes to local communities.

“I would also like to thank former Chair Tony Colville for his remarkable contribution over the past two years. Tony has helped guide the Foundation through an immense period of change and development.”

Tony was appointed Chairman in 2015, after originally joining as a trustee in 2014. Leighton Andrews replaces Tony at an exciting time with the Foundation’s new five-year strategy recently launched.

The remainder of the board committee is made up of Vice Chair Steve Borley, Treasurer Rachel Lewis and trustees Ken Choo, Melanie Hamer, Shikala Mansfield, Chris Hatcher and Kayley Griffiths. Together they bring a wealth of professional experience and knowledge to the table, providing the Foundation with a range of expertise on a voluntary basis.
