Prioritising our mental health has never been more important.

Recent research revealed that more than 60% of adults and 68% of young people felt their mental health deteriorated during the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown.

The potential impact on people’s mental health caused by inequalities and amplified by the pandemic will likely continue for a considerable time beyond the pandemic.

That’s why we’ve placed mental and emotional wellbeing at the heart of all our core programmes.

Recent activities to support better mental health include:

  • Providing wellbeing check-ins for young people.
  • Providing mentoring for children and young people in schools to support emotional wellbeing.
  • Providing a safe space for children and young people with a disability to connect with others, build confidence and increase physical activity.
  • Supporting socially isolated armed forces veterans to become mentally and physically active and empower participants to become active members of the community.
  • Adopting trauma-informed approaches to our targeted interventions.
  • Training football mental health champions to support the wellbeing of our staff so they can better support beneficiaries

Cameron, a student on our Future Pathways Post-16 Education Programme shared his experience of lockdown, the support he received from our tutors, and optimism for the future.
