Abbie Davies from Bridgend has been busy fundraising over the last few months in memory of her brother Liam, who sadly passed away in July.

Both huge Cardiff City fans and season ticket holders for over 15 years, Abbie and Liam had spent many happy times travelling the country together to watch their beloved Bluebirds play, as well as being mascots when they were younger.

At Cardiff City FC Foundation, we were touched to be chosen as one of the charities to benefit from Abbie's hard work, raising funds in Liam’s name.

The Foundation work with children, young people and families who are facing inequalities in our communities to achieve their full potential.

Foundation Director Gavin Hawkey met with Abbie at the Memorial Gardens at Cardiff City Stadium, to view the plaque that Liam’s family crowdfunded over the summer and to thank her for raising an incredible £3000 to support the work of the Foundation, as part of £7500 she has raised in total.

Gavin said:

It was an honour to meet with Abbie and hear more about Liam. The funds that Abbie and her family have raised will help make such a difference to the work of the Cardiff City FC Foundation. On behalf of the team at the Foundation, and the children, young people and families that we support, I’d like to thank Abbie and her family for choosing to honour Liam’s memory in this way.
