Last summer, Abbie Davies from Bridgend raised money in memory of her brother Liam, who sadly passed away in July 2020.

Both huge Cardiff City fans and season ticket holders for over 15 years, Abbie and Liam had spent many happy times travelling the country together to watch their beloved Bluebirds play, as well as being mascots when they were younger.

At Cardiff City FC Foundation, we were touched to be chosen as one of the charities to benefit from Abbie's hard work raising an incredible £3000 to support the children and young people that we work with.

Today marks Liam’s birthday, and in his memory, Abbie and her family planted a tree in the memorial garden of Cardiff City Stadium so that Liam is forever watching his beloved Bluebirds.

Foundation Director Gavin Hawkey met with Abbie and her family at the Memorial Gardento view the plaque and tree that will proudly stand for Bluebirds to remember.

Gavin said:

It was an honour to meet with Abbie and the family to hear more about Liam. The funds that Abbie and her family have raised will help make such a difference to the work of the Cardiff City FC Foundation. On behalf of the team at the Foundation, and the children, young people and families that we support, I’d like to thank Abbie and her family for choosing to honour Liam’s memory in this way.
