Cardiff City FC Foundation have launched the annual U13 girl-only football tournament in association with New Directions Education.

This event will take place on the 21st November, and is a highlight of the sporting academic year for schools across the region. Last year saw over 100 teams take part to create a tournament packed with action and anticipation.

Women's football has been on the rise in recent times, with the annual New Directions Education Kids Cup contributing to getting younger women and girls interested and participating in football.

The tournament has been running for a number of years, gathering interest from a number of schools across South Wales.

Foundation Sport & Health Co-ordinator Dean Pymble said: "It’s great to see the popularity of girl’s football grow year on year, massive thanks to New Directions Education and the EFL Trust for providing girl’s around South Wales with the opportunity to participate in a nationwide tournament."

Due to the limited number of spaces on the U13s Girls tournament, schools can submit up to two teams but only one team will be guaranteed a space. Schools that do submit more than one team will be notified on 14th November if their second team is able to participate.
