Cardiff City FC Foundation, the official Bluebirds charity is pleased to be back in schools today (Monday 22nd Feb) helping children reconnect, improve confidence and wellbeing and develop new skills through the Premier League Primary Stars project.

Undoubtedly, many children’s emotional, physical and social wellbeing will have been negatively affected since the December lockdown begun.

That’s why the Foundation has worked closely with our primary school partners, to safely return our staff to the school setting to offer fun and engaging P.E and PSE activities face-to-face. Children will be taking part in lessons and activities, in line with Government guidelines, that are designed to use football as a tool to improve wellbeing and boost confidence during this challenging period.

For those not yet scheduled to return to face-to-face learning, we’re continuing to provide digital learning opportunities through football-themed online learning resources, designed to support children with literacy, numeracy, PSE and physical activity.

Recently, the Foundation hosted the Bluebirds from Home Festival, a week-long festival supporting children’s wellbeing and learning through daily fitness activities and football-themed English and Maths lessons.

Over 140 schools took part, and thousands of young people enjoyed the opportunity to learn differently.

By harnessing the power of football, we have found new ways to keep children engaged and interested in learning, while supporting education professionals who are working incredibly hard to deliver teaching online.
