The FA's Heads Up campaign uses the power of football to raise awareness about mental health issues and the support that is available to those who need it.

To support the campaign, the Cardiff City FC Foundation worked with pupils on its Primary Stars project to discuss the impact of positive mental health with City first-team players Danny Ward and Alex Smithies.

Darlington was a standout pupil during the session, showing excellent dedication to the workshop, identifying some of his role models and discussed how they have inspired him to work hard in and outside of the classroom.

As a reward for his hard work and concentration during the workshop, Darlington was chosen to lead the Bluebirds out against Swansea City in the South Wales derby.

Ms Allen, Darlington's Year 6 teacher said:

Darlington is confident, friendly and a great lad. We all really enjoy his kind personality and witty sense of humour. We were all very proud to see him walk onto the pitch!

Through the Primary Stars project, the Foundation provides workshops to support extra-circular learning surrounding a number of relevant topics.
